In this video:

This story starts with the turn of the century archeologist William Matthews Flinders Petrie, or simply Flinders Petrie. By 1895, he had already established himself as, perhaps, the world’s leading Egyptologist. 18 years earlier, at the young age of 24, Petrie had published his work Inductive Metrology; or, The Recovery of Ancient Measures from the Monuments in which he detailed measurements of Stonehenge. Using those, he made hypothesizes about how, when, and why the strange structure was built. It was one of the first times any archeologist had attempted comprehensive measuring (with estimated knowledge of historical sun and lunar cycles) to establish theories on ancient structures.

    1. Wow! Here is one reason I would not like to have that sort of stardom. I’m glad he doesn’t have a swollen head.

  1. “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it does rhyme.”
    ― Mark Twain

    1. @Johann Adam Weishaupt nothing, it’s just a popular miss attributed quote making it’s way around the net right now.

  2. TFW two of your fave YouTubers drop vids at the same time… what to do? How can I get FIRST COMMENT on both at once? What will I ever do?? Honestly? No stress… Simon wins!

    BADOOM DOOM TUSHshshshshsh… 😉

  3. “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it” – George Santayana

“Unfortunately the same is true of 10th grade Algebra” – me

    1. Well … the thing about quotes …
“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” George Santayana (1863-1952)
“Play it once, Sam. For old times’ sake.” Ilsa, Casablanca (1942)
“Those who don’t know history are destined to repeat it.” Edmund Burke (1729-1797)
      “Play it!” Rick, Casablanca (1942)
“I’ve got news for Mr. Santayana: we’re doomed to repeat the past no matter what. That’s what it is to be alive.”
      Kurt Vonnegut (1922-2007)

  4. From what I understand, the 10th pin was added to circumvent the ban on “ninepins” in the 19th century

  5. Imagine your greatest finds in Egyptian tombs being discredited by the INTERNATIONAL BOWLING MUSEUM. That makes all those decades of digging worthwhile.

    1. Unfortunately I don’t think that Egyptologists need such a reputable source to be discredited. They do a satisfactory job all of their own.

  6. *Today I Found Out :*
The guy that invented bowling is the same guy that invented the mullet. 🤔
